Central West Ballet is in its 25th year of existence. An anniversary, a reason to celebrate, perhaps from the standpoint of imagination and the aspirations of its artists. This amazing achievement is the work of everyone who's efforts transformed the company from its inception to today. For 25 years, Artistic Directors, Ballet Masters, Teachers, Parents, Dancers and Volunteers built the foundations of what one day could develop into a young professional entity. Three years ago, Central West branched off and stepped into its own dance studio on Pentecost Drive, North Modesto. This was a bold move and was not an easy transition to accomplish. Like a young adult who must leave his parents, the Company had to make a life of its own, provide for itself and take an important step toward independence. All this from a simple necessity: that dancers who were once Company members at the age of 12 were now 24 years of age and still in the Company. Their dream of making a career in dance had become a reality. They needed a place of their own, they wanted to go forward.
How could we not provide for them? Their dedication, efforts and belief in staying the course was their way of saying: "We believe in Central West Ballet. We want to go the distance". And so began the long curve to a new reality. Much may have been said about the suggestion that Central West Ballet could go the distance and transform itself into a stand alone young professional company. At the end of the day, a few facts remain; a steadfast belief from within, the passion of each dancer, the collective inspiration that elevates the Company towards its goals. This is why we keep our efforts going. From the Boards of Directors, staff, supporters, volunteers and each artist, Central West Ballet is a place where dreams can become reality.
